Arthur Davis Park is one of our favourites for many reasons. There is something magical about being by the water and watching young children playing happily in the great outdoors – both of which you can enjoy when spending time at Arthur Davis Park on the foreshore in Sandgate.
Arthur Davis Park – The Fun
This shady, beachside playground is host to a variety of play equipment including a rocking play boat, merry-go-round, cognitive game panels plus the more traditional slides and swings. If you have a child that likes to climb, then the well-established trees throughout the playground will provide the perfect platform for scaling, swinging and clambering. Arthur Davis Park is situated beside the Sandgate Aquatic Centre and Bramble Bay, so taking a picnic, going for a swim and making a day of it is also a great option.
Imagination Factor
The picture-perfect beachside location of Arthur Davis Park will have your Brisbane Kids acting like a pirate, throwing in a line from the play boat or ‘hanging ten’ on the play surfboard. At low tide they can even head down to the shoreline and dig for hidden treasure, collect shells or build a sandcastle. If you have a keen eye, or perhaps a pair of binoculars, you can even spot ships passing through Moreton Bay, kite surfers skimming over the waters or planes landing and taking off from Brisbane Airport across the bay.
Special Needs Consideration
Access to Arthur Davis Park is via concrete paths, which extend along the foreshore as a shared pathway. There is both bark and rubber bases throughout the park, with direct access to the wheelchair friendly merry-go-round, which is sure to evoke many squeals of delight. Cognitive play panels are also easily accessible. Wheelchair friendly toilets are located within the toilet block.
